Prior to jumping into the entrepreneurial realm, American Eagle Roofing business partners Ariel Giannone and Sean Kennedy both had backgrounds in construction. Ariel had worked for a large roofing company off and on for many years and fell in love with the industry. Working in the field opened her eyes to the roofing biz’s flaws. “In general, the roofing industry doesn’t have a great reputation for integrity and transparency,” Ariel shares. “I felt strongly that there must be a better way, which included caring for employees, giving people opportunities, and creating a culture that employees would enjoy.

 

I’ve always thought roofing is extremely hard work. It’s stressful, it’s strenuous, it’s dangerous—I can’t change any of those things, but what I can do is make the company you work for not suck.” Sean came from a general construction background and felt similarly about the roofing industry. Like Ariel, he felt compelled to open a company that better served customers and employees. The pair’s ideas aligned, and they decided to move forward together as American Eagle Roofing.
