TierOne Financial & Insurance Solutions is a relationship-focused firm dedicated to providing personalized financial planning, retirement strategies, insurance solutions, and estate and business succession planning. TierOne’s founder, Doug Van Order, brings a mission centered on service, trust, and connection, ensuring the firm works closely with families and business owners to craft long-term strategies tailored to their specific goals. The firm is known for its “Tier One” service experience, which includes a high-touch, deeply personalized approach where clients are treated with the same level of care and commitment one would offer to family.
With more than three decades in the financial services industry, Doug’s journey began in 1995 after graduating from Chico State with a degree in Business Management. He was immediately drawn to the relational side of financial planning through building trust, providing guidance, and helping clients make critical life decisions. Over the years, Doug stepped into leadership roles, mentoring new advisors and eventually founding TierOne Financial & Insurance Solutions in 2017. The firm reflects his vision for what financial advising should be: personal, ethical, and rooted in long-term partnership.
As fiduciaries, the team operates with clients' best interests at heart, leading with clarity, compassion, education, transparency, empathy, and service. Many of Doug’s clients have been with him for decades, a testament to the trust and loyalty that comes from consistent, high-quality care. Whether helping someone retire confidently, mentoring a new advisor, or guiding a young professional through their first investment, the TierOne team is committed to being present and proactive.
The firm’s long-term vision includes mentoring the next generation of advisors who share these values. By investing in young talent and remaining connected to the community, TierOne is building a future where sound financial guidance is accessible to all ages and stages. While in college at Boise State University, Doug’s son Bryce inquired about joining the firm and helping to grow the practice. “I couldn’t have been more excited about the opportunity to have him join me and bring a vision for growth from a young person’s perspective,” Doug shares. The chance to impact the next generation of young entrepreneurs, professionals, and families in their community brings another level of excitement to the firm, its daily purpose and vision. Their mission is simple: to serve with honesty, compassion, and expert guidance, helping clients feel empowered on their financial journey.
Doug and his wife, Kendra, have been longtime residents of Roseville since 2002. Together, they have raised three children, Jake (a chef at Disney World in Orlando), Bryce, and Rylie (a kinesiology student at Boise State), who are now grown and making their own way in the world. Family has always been at the center of Doug’s life, and it is this same value that forms the foundation of his approach to business. Outside of work, Doug enjoys the 1968 Mustang that he’s owned since high school, golfing with friends and clients at Granite Bay Golf Club, enjoying a good glass of red wine, and giving back to the community. His volunteer work includes board service for organizations such as the Positive Coaching Alliance in Sacramento, NAIFA Northern California, and Court Appointed Special Advocates of Placer County (CASA). In 2020, Doug founded the Because We Care Golf Invitational, an event that has raised over $110,000 to support programs connecting youth with law enforcement and first responders. This year’s tournament will be held at Granite Bay Golf Club on Monday, September 8th.
