DeCamilla Capital Management (DCM) has been serving the investment needs of the Sacramento community for over 25 years. From family trusts to retirement accounts and business plans, DCM builds tailored portfolios based on each client’s unique goals. As a fiduciary, the firm is committed to putting client interests above all else.

In 1997, founder Dave DeCamilla was a broker at a national investment firm. When told to liquidate his clients’ holdings in General Telephone and Electric (GTE)—despite his conviction in the stock—Dave felt he could no longer serve clients effectively within that system. He valued the deep personal understanding he had of his clients’ goals and wanted the freedom to act on it. In 1998, he opened DCM in a small office on American River Drive.

From the beginning, Dave built DCM around a simple idea: clients are partners, not profit centers. True partnership, he believes, starts with clarity and mutual understanding. That’s why DCM portfolios are made up almost entirely of individual stocks in leading American companies—not mutual funds or ETFs. These investment “products,” in DCM’s view, only obscure what investors actually own. Instead, when DCM clients view their statements, they see recognizable company names, not abstract fund titles. This philosophy—owning stock directly rather than through a fund—is what Dave calls Direct Drive Investing.

This method also eliminates the risk of conflicted advice, where advisors may be influenced by commissions tied to product sales. Many mutual funds offer financial incentives to advisors in order to promote their product. While all advisors are supposed to act in their clients’ best interest, the reality is that commissions can create the possibility of misaligned incentives. At DCM, these products are rejected entirely. The firm receives numerous calls and emails each day from salespeople and ignores every one. This clear stance provides clients with peace of mind, knowing their portfolios are built on transparency and integrity.

DCM’s commitment to long-term relationships is reflected in its longevity. Many clients have been with the firm since its founding, and in 2023, DCM moved into a new office at 41st and J Streets in East Sacramento. The move marked both a practical expansion—accommodating team growth with the additions of Ron Petroff (2016), Tigh Rickman (2017), and Jared Mikacich (2021)—and a personal return. Dave and his family have lived in East Sacramento for decades, alongside many of the firm’s clients.

The office itself mirrors DCM’s core principles. Sunlight floods through large exterior and interior glass walls—symbolizing transparency. Clean, modernist design underscores the firm’s belief in simplicity. A welcoming lobby and thoughtful art throughout encourage conversation and connection—reminding all who enter that knowing the client is central to the work. If you find yourself on J Street, feel free to stop in and see it for yourself.
