JDL Land Management
The Arden Park Local - AUGUST 2025
JDL Land Management (JDL) provides a wide range of landscaping services, backed by a skilled and dedicated team with a strong focus on growth and innovation. Founder
Gabriel Garcia-Marquez describes the company as quality-driven, detail-oriented, and a one-stop shop for all landscape needs. Since launching JDL from the ground up in 2019, Gabriel has remained hands-on, committed to nurturing the business every step of the way.
Gabriel's professional story began in 2008 when he started working for a large commercial landscaping company while attending Cosumnes River College for a contractual degree. He began at the bottom but quickly rose through the ranks to become a project manager. Realizing he had reached a ceiling as his next step would have required replacing his own boss, he chose a different route. He began doing side residential jobs and eventually launched his first business, Garden Tutors, with a partner. After five years, the partnership dissolved, each taking a different path due to life changes. But Gabriel stayed focused on his vision.
That vision became JDL Land Management. What started as a small team of seven has grown into a staff of twenty-five. What sets JDL apart from others in the industry, he says, is their ability to maintain strong relationships with clients and their willingness to listen and collaborate. Most of the original staff still works with him, something Gabriel takes great pride in. "That speaks volumes about our business," he says.
Clients appreciate JDL's experience, dependability, and communication. "We know what we're talking about," Gabriel explains. Whether it is design, construction, or maintenance, his team brings expertise and a sense of partnership to each project.
Gabriel lives in South Sacramento near Elk Grove with his wife, Ashley, and their blended family. Their family includes Ana (16), who currently lives in Mexico, Aiden (15), who attends Florin High School, Andreas (13), who is also in Mexico but set to return to the U.S. soon, and Nash (14). With several of their children entering new phases, Gabriel and Ashley are also considering a move to Shingle Springs or Auburn for more land, space, and a place that better suits their long-term goals.
Beyond Landscaping, Gabriel has a few personal passions. He collects LEGO Architecture sets and owns over seven-y, all unopened, with some valued at over $1,000. He also studied classical guitar and bass in a music school in Mexico and still owns three guitars and a bass. Another lesser-known talent; he drafts most of his designs by hand, creating quick sketches for jobs that bring his clients' visions to life.
Gabriel's long-term goal for the company is to grow sustainably, not just for profit, but to build something lasting. He wants the business to be something he can pass on to his children or use to support a comfortable retirement. Ashley is already
involved in the business and is expected to play a bigger role as it grows, JDL is not just a business; it is a family investment for the future.
