It should come as no surprise that Mark Johnson’s number one hobby is traveling. The Rocklin resident is an independent franchise owner of Cruise Planners, and after exploring many parts of the world, he’s using his globetrotting expertise to help others take their own memorable holidays.

Mark’s entrepreneurial ambitions flourished mid-career. While working full-time for a local government, he began networking with successful business owners and started two businesses. But at the time, his two kids, Rachel and William, were quite young, and he decided to sell the businesses before they had the chance to grow further. But that didn’t stop Mark from continuing to learn about the business world and pursuing his entrepreneurial goals. “As the years passed, and my business knowledge increased, I learned an important lesson: If you do what you love, it doesn’t seem like work,” Mark says. “I was fortunate to have a mentor in the travel industry who encouraged me to apply my newfound entrepreneurial skills to the industry I knew and enjoy, travel.”

Through Cruise Planners, Mark’s goal is to make travel a fun and seamless experience. “My mission is to craft unforgettable journeys for my clients so they don’t have to deal with the stress and time it takes to plan them,” he explains. “When you plan your trip with me, all you’ll have to do is show up!” The travel business has changed radically since the advent of the internet, with search engines and social media influencers now saturating the travel planning realm. But people planning trips are often overwhelmed by the number of choices and frustrated by the process of making decisions and booking accommodations, dinner reservations, and more—they want someone else to handle all the details, which is where Mark and Cruise Planners come in. Mark covers the minutiae involved with complicated travel plans, and unlike other travel planners, he also has a vested interest in his clients’ happiness. “I spend the time getting to know my clients and learning what they really want in a vacation,” he says. “When my clients call me, they won’t get an ‘off the shelf’ vacation found on many websites. I listen carefully and provide a custom vacation with the goal of developing an experience they will remember for a lifetime.” Mark adds that his personalized service isn’t limited to the planning process; he’s available by phone throughout his clients’ journeys until they return home, doing everything possible to make their vacations exactly what they wanted.

Epic travel adventures often result in memories that can last a lifetime. Mark is proud to assist his clients in capturing these moments and hopes to continue offering travel itineraries with a high level of service and the least amount of stress.
