Language Explorers Club & Life Skills By Melissa Strand
Language Explorers Club is a language enrichment center offering small-group programs for children ages three to six, conveniently located in Granite Bay. Sessions target expressive and receptive language, as well as social communication skills. Enrichment groups are anchored by specific language targets and reinforced by thoughtfully chosen books and hands-on activities to reinforce the targeted skill. Real-time feedback, multisensory activities, and opportunities to practice with peers of the same age promote confidence in their abilities and academic readiness.
Founded by speech-language pathologist Simeen Mansuri, the business is rooted in the belief that educating and empowering families is essential to helping children thrive. Many parents simply want reassurance that they are supporting their child in the best possible way. With Simeen, the focus is never on labeling a child, but on building confidence, strengthening connection, and fostering a love for learning that will lead to long-term success.
Simeen’s journey to opening Language Explorers Club began after graduate school in 2010, when she worked in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient care, and served as an instructor at California State University, Fresno. Through these roles, she discovered her passion for education in teaching patients and families and collaborating with multidisciplinary care teams. After welcoming her second daughter in 2015, she chose to step back from her career to focus on family, a transition that continued after moving to Roseville in 2018.
During that time, friends often sought her advice on speech and language development, reigniting her passion and leading her back into the field through a part-time role at a local charter school. While she enjoyed balancing motherhood with meaningful work and being part of a special education team, the experience ultimately inspired her to create something more personal and value driven.
Motherhood further deepened Simeen’s appreciation for early childhood education and the lasting impact of the early years on a child’s development. With encouragement from her husband, she decided to build the environment she had always envisioned through Language Explorers Club and Life Skills, one centered on the whole child. In addition, Language Explorers Club is expanding its offerings with an Introduction to Handwriting for ages 4–6 and a three-week Study Skills class for middle school students.
An exciting upcoming workshop at LEC is Improv: Social Skills in Motion. Simeen will partner with Gavin from The Wake Up Call on 106.5 The End. Using improv principles like active listening, “yes…and,” perspective-taking, social repair, and plenty of laughter, tweens and teens will build confidence in self-expression and strengthen teamwork skills.
Simeen lives in East Roseville with her husband, Gabe Pino, their two daughters, and their beloved mini poodle, Chance. She enjoys staying active, playing volleyball with her family, and reading. Above all, she is most proud that Language Explorers Club actively involves parents and caregivers and continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community.
