Thinking of working with an investment advisor? Here’s what to expect!
Tigh Rickman, Vice President, CIO
1. Who uses investment advisers?
Individuals, families and organizations who are looking for professional guidance and a steady hand on the tiller to help them navigate to their long-term goals.
2. Who are your typical clients?
Broadly, our clients include individuals, family trusts, and local businesses. Each comes with unique goals, needs, and risk tolerances, so there’s no true “typical” client. We work with retirees living off savings, young professionals just starting out, businesses trusting us with retirement plans, and multigenerational families. We have clients who came aboard when our doors opened in 1998 whose children and grandchildren are clients.
3. What do investment advisers do?
Investment advisers manage investment portfolios, selecting assets that are in line with their client’s goals, time horizons and risk tolerances. They are bound to the Fiduciary Standard which means they need to put the best interests of the client first.
4. How is DCM different?
Founded on David DeCamilla’s values of transparency and understanding, we build portfolios with publicly traded, highly rated equities so clients know exactly what they own and why. In 28 years, DCM has never accepted commissions, which is one of the ways we ensure adherence to the Fiduciary Standard. Our fees are based solely on account value, aligning our success with our clients’. We also prioritize accessibility: our clients have our cell numbers and can reach us anytime.
5. How much money do you need to invest?
Typically, our investment minimums begin at $100,000. However, we value long-term relationships and are happy to discuss your needs to see if there’s a path that makes sense for you.
6. How do I get started?
Meet our team and learn about our investment philosophy. If you decide to move forward, we will open an account appropriate to your needs at Charles Schwab, our custodian. They hold the accounts, you own them, and we independently manage the assets. You can view everything anytime through Schwab’s online platform and app, supporting our commitment to transparency.
