We Love Paws

AUGUST 2026

Owner of We Love Paws, Annie Warren has been grooming pets for over 20 years. What started out as working in different grooming salons and veterinary clinics has blossomed into a business that provides high quality grooming services for pets throughout the Sacramento area.

Annie purchased We Love Paws nine years ago when she saw the business for sale because she wanted to create a different standard for pet groomers. She says, “I’ve always viewed groomers as stylists, similar to hair stylists. My goal was to create an environment where groomers could have more independence, control their own schedules, and truly feel like business owners themselves. I wanted We Love Paws to operate more like a professional salon while still providing exceptional care for pets.” The salon was much smaller back then with only one grooming table and one tub. Today it has grown significantly to include five groomers as well as support staff who help care for their clients.

What makes We Love Paws unique is that their salon is designed to create a comfortable experience for both pets and groomers. They have multiple private grooming rooms, which allows them to separate pets when needed and provide a calmer environment. This is especially helpful for dogs that may be reactive around other dogs or for cats that need a quieter space. Also, the fact that they groom cats is unique as very few grooming salons offer that service. One of Annie’s specialties is hand stripping, which is a grooming technique used primarily for terrier breeds. It’s a specialized skill that isn’t commonly offered by many groomers in the Sacramento area.

Working with anxious animals who aren’t excited to go to the groomer can be hard, but Annie is known for working with dogs that can be difficult to groom. She says, “I enjoy building trust with nervous or anxious pets and helping them become comfortable with the grooming process. There have been many dogs that initially struggled with grooming but, over time, learned to trust the experience.” She feels that building those relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of the work she does.

What Annie is most proud of is the quality of work her team provides. In 2024, she was honored to be voted Sacramento’s Best Groomer in the Sacramento Bee’s Best of Sacramento competition. She says that recognition meant a lot because it came from the community. More than anything, she’s proud of the relationships they’ve built with their clients and pets over the years. “Because clients visit every four to six weeks, I often get to know entire families. In many cases, I’ve watched pets grow up over the years,” Annie shares.

Annie is always looking for ways to grow while continuing to provide the level of care and personal service her clients have come to expect. In the future she would love to expand We Love Paws with a second location in West Sacramento (she’s currently exploring different opportunities and locations). She’s also considered adding a mobile grooming service at some point. Whatever the future holds for We Love Paws, Sacramento’s furbabies are in good hands!
