Chalmer's Dental

Chalmers Dental

In a quiet corner near Arden Park, just beyond the neighborhood fields and tree-lined streets, there’s a dental practice where science meets sincerity and where patients are treated more like neighbors than numbers. At the helm is Dr. Jayson Chalmers, a dentist with deep roots in the community and a story that bridges anthropology, athletics, and everyday oral health.

Long before opening Chalmers Dental, Dr. Chalmers spent summers on archaeological digs in Virginia, carefully excavating bones and teeth. His undergraduate studies in anthropology, paired with a fascination for human osteology, laid the groundwork for his future in dentistry. “Teeth are the most telling part of the skeleton,” he explains. “They last. They tell the story.” That perspective carried him through dental school at UCSF, where he graduated in 2003 with a commitment to blending science and patient-centered care.

After a year and a half into practicing in Napa, Jayson was presented with the opportunity to purchase a small dental office in Sacramento. It was a move that brought him closer to the community where he grew up. “The timing was right. I knew I wanted to grow something long term and Sacramento felt like home” he says.

He started modestly in a three-operatory office on Alta Arden, managing everything himself. That early phase taught him a lot about patients, persistence, and the pace of running a

truly local practice. As the patient base grew, so did the space. First across the street, then into an expanded office with 11 operatories and a full-service team. Today, Chalmers Dental

offers preventive, cosmetic, implant, and orthodontic care, all delivered with a focus on clarity and comfort.

“We try to remove the guesswork for patients,” Dr. Chalmers

says. “People appreciate when you’re honest and transparent about their treatment options. We give them a roadmap that fits

their health, their timeline, and their budget.” Joining him in that mission is Dr. Jennifer Norris, a veteran clinician with over 30

years of experience. Together, they’ve created an environment where families feel comfortable returning year after year and

where care feels consistent, not transactional.

But it’s not just everyday patients who trust Dr. Chalmers with their dental health. In 2023, he was named the official team

dentist of the Sacramento Kings. He now oversees dental care and protective treatment for the players and staff, a role that’s grown

to include support for athletics as well. It’s a unique intersection of sports and healthcare and one that he takes seriously. “Athletes

have specific risks, especially in contact sports. Mouth injuries are more common than people realize. The right prevention makes a

real difference.”

Even off the court, Dr. Chalmers remains involved in athletics. He sponsors Arden Park youth sports teams, supports

Rio Americano High School events, and donates mouthguards and supplies to local athletes. His practice also hosts weekend

dental assistant training programs, equipping the next generation of support staff with hands-on experience in a working clinical

environment. He adds, “The goal is to build a strong pipeline of professionals who care as much about people as they do about process.”

Chalmers Dental continues to grow as a trusted part of the Arden Park community. From high school athletes to NBA

professionals, and from first-time patients to multi-generation families, Dr. Chalmers’ mission remains the same. Delivering care

that’s honest, thoughtful, and built on trust.
